Italian Social Campaign "We are the Environment," I'll put my face to your future

Why do we want action on global warming?

Because we owe it to all the young people of this country, and because it offers us opportunities today. If we do not reduce our greenhouse gas emissions immediately until they are completely eliminated by 2050, our future will be threatened. That’s why we need to act. Because there are solutions. We know what to do. It is up to both politicians and citizens to act now.

So it is not enough to say that I am defending the environment. The problem is basically us, We Men and Women, and not just the institutions. We try to act in such a way that the effects of our action are compatible with the continuation of an authentically human life.

Global warming is mainly caused by CO2, a gas released during the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, petrol, diesel, we must also halve the emissions of other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide, produced in particular by intensive livestock farming, by 2050.

It’s not too late yet, we can change things

The Environment is our country, our communities, our families.
Please do not forget the right to the future of future generations.

We are the first generation to have the technology, the scientific knowledge and the global intention to create a real sustainable economic future for the whole of humanity, we are also the last generation that really has the opportunity to stop climate change before it is too late.

We are facing what is fast becoming the biggest moral crisis of our time. In which those less responsible will have to suffer the greatest cost and let’s stop, for God’s sake, denigrating science, let’s stop giving power to people who don’t believe in science or, worse, pretend they don’t believe in science for their own interests.

What are we asking for?

An ambitious policy that will make Italy a climate-neutral country by 2050 and that, in the coming years, will lead to a substantial reduction in greenhouse gases. We are calling for an ambitious and socially just investment plan that will help all citizens and businesses make the energy transition to a climate-neutral society.
This investment plan should be implemented by the end of 2022.

What are we asking you? We need you!

And yes, we’re asking you to commit yourself to the future of the new generations, send us a photo and tell us what change you’re going to make or are already making to reduce your ecological footprint and help fight climate change.

The fact that we perceive climate change as a collective problem also leads us to believe that solutions are the exclusive responsibility of institutions, governments or international treaties. But this is not the case in practice: the behaviour of the individual, although not decisive, is relevant.

Lacking this basic information, citizens cannot understand that their lifestyle also plays a role in determining climate change and that changing it could help to contain the phenomenon. Finally, we must not forget that in group dynamics the context and social approval play a fundamental role.

The motivation to act depends on our system of values, but also on the attitude of those around us. And so the sustainable choices of some can become contagious and influence the behaviour of all, especially if this is associated with legislative decisions that accompany and encourage them.
Our homes are responsible for 30% of harmful emissions on our planet and 40% of energy consumption. The energy upgrading of the existing building stock offers the construction sector a great opportunity without land use and is at the centre of attention in Europe.

Everyone needs help and you can do a lot to raise awareness in your audience about an issue that is often unknown or misdescribed. We don’t believe that there is a single road but many that converge, we believe that “nothing is bigger than small things” so any virtuous and fossil free action will help to make a difference.

Everyone has to take responsibility…

Who we are

This is a social campaign launched by Habitami – clear pacts for sustainable efficiency associated with ASVIS – Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development.

Habitami is a public campaign for the energy requalification of buildings born in Milan in 2013 with the patronage and support of institutions, institutions and associations, to inform and ensure citizens interventions of guaranteed energy efficiency.

In the last 5 years it has spread throughout Italy thanks to the respect of the role of independent third party among market players recognized by citizens and accredited by institutions and stakeholders, governed by the guarantee protocol. Habitami does not receive any public funding.

In 2015 Habitami received the International Award for Environmental Communication for the section “Communicating the Kyoto Protocol” presented by Luca Mercalli, Chairman of the Scientific Committee.Report Rai3 dedicates an article in 2016 in the episode Italy is one of the “Fossilized” but the Habitami campaign is sustainable efficiency.

ENEA – the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development invites Habitami to the General States of Energy Efficiency as Best Practice and signs a memorandum of understanding, as a third party and independent, to make building system with a technical table on sustainability protocols for the assessment of environmental quality of buildings.
